From ideas to impact: My content creation process
The real process
11:31 PM – I have a genius idea
I was in bed, doomscrolling like a champ, when an idea hit me. I should write about my creative process. It felt big, smart, and definitely publishable.
I opened Notes and typed: “Content creation = chaos > clarity? tools?”
Closed my phone.
Mentally high-fived myself and promised I’d start in the morning.
I’ve been creating stuff online for years – but honestly? A content creation workflow still doesn’t feel like a “process” most of the time. Even when I’ve done it a hundred times, it’s hardly ever linear.
And without the right tools, it’s easy to get stuck in the chaos.
9:15 AM – Explosion mode activated
I sat down to brainstorm. One tab became twelve. I started reading an article about creative flow and ended up watching a YouTube essay about raccoons and ADHD.
Ideas were everywhere, but I couldn’t see how they connected. It was all fog.
I opened MindNode Classic, dumped every messy thought into a mind map, and dragged stuff around until something started to resemble a shape. The chaos now has borders.
That’s when I realized this was not just brainstorming but the start of my content creation process. Ah, it’s finally taking shape.
11:45 AM – The spiral begins
I started doubting everything.
Should I turn this into a tweet thread? A meme? A LinkedIn carousel with “insights from my workflow” and a weird stock photo?
Instead, I opened Plus. Asked it to rephrase a sentence I hated. It gave me five options. Three of them were better than what I’d written. One sparked a new thought. I was back on track.
Using AI as my creative buddy wasn’t brand new to me, but it’s now a core part of my content creation strategy. Especially when I get stuck.
2:20 PM – Writing cave mode
After I actually knew what I was trying to say (mostly), I opened Ulysses.
Clean space and zero formatting drama. I’ve tried dozens of content creation tools, but this is where I actually write. It simplifies my space so I can focus on the words, not the clutter.
I switched to dark mode because ✨ vibes ✨
I started typing like I was being chased.
I didn’t look at Twitter.
I didn’t check Slack.
I didn’t second-guess every sentence (okay, maybe just some).
If you’re wondering how to start content creation without getting overwhelmed, I recommend one clean writing space and one clear idea.
10:10 AM (next day) – Editing like a raccoon with a red pen
Everything got sharper.
I deleted entire paragraphs and rewrote the intro. Removed the sentence where I compared my brain to an unplugged blender. (Regret: 6/10).
Then, it finally felt like a piece of content and not just a brain dump. And weirdly, my content creation process? It was starting to feel… enjoyable?
11:50 AM – It’s alive!
I hit publish. The idea was real. It went from a scribble in my Notes app to an actual article that people might read. (I say “might” because self-doubt is still very much part of my content creation strategy, thanks.)
But here’s the win: I didn’t stall and didn’t overthink it into oblivion. I used the right tools at the right moments and got out of my own way.
MindNode Classic gave me structure.
Plus gave me momentum.
Ulysses gave me a space to breathe and write.
Afterword
If you’re staring at a blinking cursor right now, just know – the mess is part of it.
The trick isn’t avoiding chaos. It’s learning how to shape it into something that matters.
